Mr. Hamlin kills his students love for music. He does nothing to motivate and nurture his students, instead abusing and discouraging them. Though there were almost 100 students my grade nine year, less than 15 remain. He doesn't care about the success of his students, only that of the program. Takes credit where it isn't due and gives none. He measures success in money stolen from students for ludicrous trips. He will teach you nothing and assume everything you know is because of him.
Very good teacher!
Students form cliques to pick on weak kids....what is called when a teacher does this? Total bully. Egotistical. He can't retire or be fired soon enough!
He is a bully with his students, tells them one thing and does another, makes promises but dosent follow through.
I have had two children in Band and music. Mr Hamlin is a very judgemental negative individual, provides no room for growth and does not connect with students. It disappoints me to see him still teaching after so many years and still not have learned anything about the individuals he teaches and how to motivate them. It is my hope one day he will find a reason to connect with students, teach music and show students how amazing the world of music could be and what it could do for students.
Mr. Spencer was a great teacher, motivating, helpfull, and just an allround nice guy. there are 3 things i miss about highschool...Mr. Spencer, Mr. McAndrew, and Mr Hamlin.
The work he puts into the music program is undeniable and awesome and I thank him. He is not a very good teacher, though. I found him to be extremely rude, demeaning, and vastly absent from his class.
I was at CCI in grade 9 when Kevin Hamlin started teaching. I hated him then but looking back now I realize he was one of the best teachers. He was tough but he brought out the best in me.
Mr. Hamlin runs an amazing band program at CCI, putting in tremendous effort and receiving great results. The issue is that with this heavy committment he leaves no time for actual music classes.
when i was in his class, he was never there, mr spencer taught two classes at once. his does not mark well he only tested us at midterm the day before marks were do and the exam.
Probably the hardest working teacher I've ever met. He gives hours and hours of his own time and demands a lot from us. It's no surprise that CCI's music program is one of the best anywhere.
His teaching overall is good...and like the music program (bands, marching band, choir, drumline) are all amazing except he's a little too strict...
Was not very nice to me. The reason I quit band was him!
probably the most irritating teacher ever...probably
Tries to be cool, but really lacks any interest in anything. Isn't very fair to students, and often makes decisions that only benefit him, not the band.
