Do not use your phone. LOOK AT HIM. Otherwise, you'll be "bad" in his books and that will impact your grades even if your assignments were very good. Read the instructions carefully and ask him questions if you are unsure. Overall, you'll have to work hard for your grade but you will learn for sure.

His class is one of the most difficult classes I have ever had. Had to work extremely hard if I wanted to get good grades but it is WORTH. When you go see him and understand properly what he wants you to do it becomes very easy to go through his exams. Everything is very structured. You just need to be careful. He might not seem approachable but he is a great person who really appreciates passing knowledge. In general, you should be serious about his class and go see him for help when needed.

He is helpful if you go ask him specific questions during office hours. Class average is low, thus if you work hard it can help your r score. DO NOT TAKE HIM if you don't plan on working hard.Always pay attention in class and never use your phone. He likes keeping eye contact with students and he explains exactly what he wants, but you do need to listen and take notes.

He is really picky on getting an eye contact with everybody in his classroom. He evaluates every work with an English Exit Exam grid which prepares you to it. All the texts have a link and it helps on the final essay. If you have him, be ready to work hard. However, if you need help he is really open to help you out and you can make him read your essay to have reviews. I had him on my first semester and i'm going to have him on my second one and im not afraid. Just be prepare and it'll be fine.

Gordon Hebert is a very strict teacher. I've had him for two semesters and there are some good/bad things about him.
If he shows up on your 8AM class schedules, it's best to DROP him or you'll be screwed really hard (Unless you sleep at 10PM, but who does that?). My tips are to finish all your homework exercises as soon as you get them, they're 30% of your grade. His assigned oral presentations are easy, as long as you have basic points and go along smoothly you'll get 5/5.
