Gerald Roitier values effort and work above everything. His work ethic is quite challengeing if you are used to the doing bare minimum to get a good grade.
He has a nice personality too and will surely share some of his life successes and anecdotes as a retired lawyer for big companies.
There is rarely homework but to get a 100% on his exams, you must learn your notes by heart (not a hyperbole, its true). If this is your main learning method, this class will be a piece of cake.
I took his Personal Finance course for the winter 2017 semester. Mr. Roiter was able to teach us many different things about finance, things that will be incredibly useful in the near future as we are stepping into the realm of adulthood. Experienced, knowledgeable and funny, it's always great to hear one of his stories, no matter what we were talking about just before. He knows his stuff and teaches us with ease and clarity. Study hard and you'll do great!
Very nice teacher, knows the subject matter very well, helps students understand real world applications about the things he teaches in his course (Personal Finance). He admires students who work hard and admires those who show that they want to succeed in, and is more than willing to empathize and help you if you are having a hard time in his class or in a way which affects your grades in his course. Anyone interested in the field would benefit from being taught by an expert like Mr. Roiter
He stood up once.... but then he got out of breath and sat back down.
Had him for Human Resources. He's okay. He's usually nice when he's not having one of his temper tantrums. He doesn't do PowerPoints or even stands when he teaches, all we did was copy what he was reciting from the book, which got boring but he let us leave early. The good thing was anything from the notes was on the tests. The bad thing for some people (but not me) if you're not good at memorizing definitions (word for word) then you wont do well on the tests, actually you might fail.
He's great. You really have to take him if you can. If you know how to memorize word definitions, some of which are very logical and easy to remember, you'll do great in his class. Also, when he gets in a good mood and your class is doing really well, he will make things even easier for the whole class. Attend his classes, he doesn't like students who skip them, he dismisses class early anyways, and he tells really interesting stories when he gets off topic. He's very clear when he teaches.
Gerald does not want to teach anymore and it show in his class. He does not care about your grade and is not scared to fail you if you don't have the same opinion as him on the term paper. His exams is basically word for word memorization. He yells at the class and threatens to fail everyone if people speak up about their opinions.
I would not recommend taking him.
I was at Vanier 20 years ago, and Gerald Roiter motivated me and taught me fairly! He is an ex lawyer and knows his stuff! Because of him and the excellent staff at Vanier, I am a very successful professional fighting fraud for the biggest bank in Canada!
He is a highly knowledgeable teacher, which will dictate questions and the answers to these questions. Memorize these questions for the exams word by word. He expects students to be on time, otherwise he will kick them out. He acts very weird when he talks to girls; he is an old man yet still shows interest in 18-25 year old female students. He "jokes" around and says things like "You are really pretty", "Why aren't you wearing the lipstick you always wear?", etc.
All the girls in my class (and for any of his classes) were super uncomfortable. He was kinda weird at times. If you're the type of student who just goes to class to get the notes, and bolts out of there, this is a prof you should consider.
Tests are incredibly difficult. If you don't have an eidetic memory you'll probably have a hard time trying to get 100 on his tests. He makes you study 70 questions for the test and only chooses 8. If the definition you gave is not identical to the one from the notes the answer is not correct. He's lazy and doesn't really show interest at all, he's also very unforgiving. He gave my class all 60's for the mid-term assessment because he forgot our marks in his chalet up north. Really dumb.
He knows the material very well. Don't be late in his class, or else he will make fun of you in front of the class. Be prepare to memorize around 70 question for each test. in the test he only gives 8 questions. but he always give hints and dictates the answers. He is a funny guy. I got 94 in his class.
He is very funny and serious at the same time! His tests are super hard but if you study you will get 100% easily , he is very fair on grading DONT MESS with him if you want to pass the class.. He gives a lot of bonus points (if he remembers). He also gives you at least 40 questions to study for the test and you will be tested on 12 of them . NEVER MISS CLASS unless you have friends who take good notes
He may seem like a big ******** in the beginning but he is pretty chill by the end when 3/4 of the class has dropped out. Normally he finishes every class 40min in advance. But you have to put in a lot of study to memorize your notes because his tests are very short but only definitions. So if you don't put the work you will fail. He gives some of the question of the final exam :'P
Very strict, lazy, and rude but overall the class is easy if you memorize the notes he gives
in order to do well in this class you will have to study since you will have to know all the notes you take in class word for word . Always agree with his opinion or you will end up with a bad grade... and make sure to study for his exams since they are each worth 30 % of your grade and only consist of 10 questions . i personally enjoyed this class although i did have to put in a lot of hours of studying in order to do well but it pays off since the class average is pretty low.
He has a lot f knowledge but he's not very prepared and his exams aren't very easy because from the many pages of theory there is, he will only ask 7-10 questions in total.
Had him for Fundamentals of Business, he sits at his desks, reads definitions which you should take notes of. Exams are all based on the definition. All of his classes take the same test, if you know someone who has him and takes the test before you, you can ask them for the question sheet cause he lets them keep it. Term paper can take a while, but it's easy when you know where to find the info. Very friendly if you get to know him.
He sits in front of class and reads definitions from the book while making you write them down. The tests are the same for each section and I doubt he bothers to change them each semester. Tests based on how accurately you can memorize. He is rarely in his office. He canceled class early many times so he could beat traffic. 3/4 of the class stop attending after the first few weeks. He is very strict on deadlines. I do not recommend him at all unless you have a friend with the cheat sheets.
Good teacher, the tests are not that difficult and the notes are directly from the book.
if he loves the class then the tests will be easy... so first thing to do first day of school is to sit down and stfu! best advice i can give. also dont be late.. test and quiz are fair.. just a lot of memorizing. He gives a lot of chance for the people to pass if youre in the "good" class.
It feels like you are just reading from the book sometimes, but his tests are fair and reflect what you learn in class.
Take his class if you have photographic memory or love to memorize definitions. Hes funny and doesnt take attendance but he give about 80 definitions and 10 questions on the test so u memorize all tha
boring class, everything is rote memory u just have to memorize defs. no need to go to class. very bias doesn't care wht u have to say or ur opion. u won't learn anything and if u don't think like him
thats was an interesting class...he gives the questions but u have a lot of memorizing...he doesnt help, doesnt take attendance...decent marker..and he doesnt stand lateness,,not too strict
i enjoyed his class...doesnt take attendance...gives the questions for the exam...dont need the book.... and i finished in the 90s memorizing everything from my classmates...really easy class
He's very arrogant but very easy class if you're good at memorizing definitions.
Best Teacher for his teaching method. Straight forward. You want to pass? get 100? all more than possible, understand ur notes. total sweetheart but dont b late. no hw.
very direct questions. no homework. study everything :( long classes about his life. doesnt give u the questions to the test actually. fun to listen to! sometimes vry easy class to want to skip :(
Tests are super easy. You have the questions in advance! I got 100% in Intro to Business and Business Law. No homework at all! Never gets up during tests, only reads newspaper ;)
very nice teacher , tests are very direct and simple , no home work. take him if you can!
No doubt this teacher knows his material but he’s out of place with regards to teaching. He makes his class seem unimportant with his personal anecdotes and stories that take up more than half of ev
hes a rlly easy teacher, he gives you the questions and answers for his tests, its just he gives about 90 and only takes 6 so you have to study, but there are no trick questions THEY ARE VERY DIRECT.
don't take him, he just does whatever he feels like and he's extremely boring AVOID HIMMMMMMM
avoid this guy at all cost i took him for business he didnt even care about the class tests were full of stuff he didnt even talk about avoid him
way too by the book. if you miss any of his notes, you must get them from someone, or else you fail his tests. answers to tests must be written word for word from his notes, or else you fail.
hes extremely boring on first impression, my legs are falling asleep as I type this.
He is amazing! He's funny, makes a lot of joke and speaks about his life often. Be sure to write down all the notes, the quizzes will be exactly on it and nothing more. Just learn the definition!
best teacher ever. exams are easy! just write the notes and remember the definitions. no need to read the book and go to class. just get the notes! got 99%with him! easy marker!
his tests are extremely easy..however i thought he was boring, and my high school economics teacher was a lot more intreesting.
I dont know how can people like this teacher!! He is very mean and has his favorites... if he doesnt like u, forget about passing. U have to memorize alot, atleast 150 definitions. He's a though marker
this teacher is the best, you do take a lot of notes and he is very lazy... he doesnt get up at all but tis semester he did it jus for hte fun of it and wrote on the board.. TAKE HIM !!!
As others have mentioned, all you have to do is memorize 50-70 definitions and you'll pass with high grades. You can skip class all of his classes, get notes from someone else and just come to exams
he is just ok but he is human he can hop of the business thing and start talking he's great he tells u what to study and what to write in ur essay 80+ is easy to get
He is a nice teacher. Very funny! All you need to do is memorize some definitions and its a easy 90%.
i loved him.. nice guy, may come across as mean at the beginning.. tests are exactly what he gives in the notes.. just memorize and youre guaranteed a 90
ok this teatcher is the worst i ever had for me because i dont have a good memory but i understand everything but not in his words so if u have a good memory like to remeber 70 long defenition take it
I didn't like this guy and I got 100% go figure. Plays favorites and will bump up your mark randomly if he feels like it. Class is super easy, just get the notes from somebody else and go in for the tests!
He is very funny!Keeps making Jokes all the time He's lazy so If he's tired he'll most probably end his class early! We finished 2 weeks in advance! Study ur notes(? & anwsers form->Easy).dont be late
Easy but Lazy. I hate when he answers his cell phone during class, I'd throw it out the window.. Study your notes and you'll pass. Like everybody else said: Do NOT be late.
hahah. Oh how I loved this teacher. Lots of notes but the notes are the tests. He likes talking and eating his maywests. If you come late and he lets you in, he'll make fun of you for the whole class.
amazing teacher. comes across as mean at the beginning, but hes not. dont be late for class though. attendance doesnt count. his tests are completely based on his notes. very easy
good teacher. tests are based completely on the notes (he dictates questions and answers in class. and thats whats on the test). don't be late for his class he wont let you in
he is a great teacher. if you have the chance, take him because his classes are easy. the notes he gives= the exams, so just study your notes. also, he tells a lot of interesting stories
He never gets up and write on the board! All you have to do is to study definitions in the margin of the book that he asked.
Very easy class, notes=exams, he always tells interesting stories on business. greatest teacher i have.
He was my teacher for every semester during my 3 years in business admin, at first he comes across as arrogant and tough, but once you get to know him hes a great guy and a great teacher, study his notes, the test are exactly his notes, i got a 97% overall.
he is nice but lazy doesnt correct anythin or stand up during class.the way 2 pass is to make sure he doesnt no U unless u r getting 90%+ doesnt take attendance
Great teacher. Hated everybody else's essay. Pointed out my essay and said everybody should have done there essay like mine.
He thinks he's all that, whens he's nothing, if you can avoid him, do it.
your have to make a good impression in class for him to like you. Very laid back teacher. Pretty easy 80-90% if you study his notes.
Easy class, teacher is talks like a lawyer, thinks like a lawyer, is a lawyer!
