I had him for creative writing B last fall. Super laid-back class, basically if you hand in work, you'll pass, no big challenge there. My class was a 3 hour slot, but he let us leave an hour or so early about half the time. He was sort of okay with phones, if you didn't make it too obvious you had it. The only time he didn't want to see any phones out was when he was giving important info and wanted to make sure everyone got it. Really interesting guy.
Geoffrey is an amazing teacher! His Love in Shakespeare class is a must take since Geoffrey does an amazing job in interpreting the plays. He is a super easy marker and a very down to earth teacher. He's always available for help and provides great explanations. The class may be boring sometimes but it's the same for every other english class. There is an oral, but all it consists of is reciting one of Shakespeare's sonnets and analyzing it a bit. Not tough at all. easy to achieve 90+.
I took one of his Shakespeare classes and it was so so boring but I did learn a lot about how to read and interpret Shakespeare's writing. He's a really cool teacher, doesn't usually take attendance and he's a pretty easy marker. As long as you do the work he tells you to do you'll probably do fine. If you're looking for an easy English class, I'd take him!
Take this teacher! Had him for Shakespeare, super chill guy, always in a good mood and helpful. It's a super easy class as long as you do the weekly(ish) portfolio paragraph and take notes. Recommended!
By far the BEST english teacher i've ever had. The most insightful, interesting, caring teacher. I would recommend him to anybody! You read one play, one novel and do some poetry, have 3 essays and no tests. As long as you do the work, you are guaranteed to do well.
Take him! By far the best English teacher. He is passionate about his subject and his class is interesting. He teaches you how to recognize the important concepts in a reading and recognize relevant details. His lectures help structure your essays which he grades easily. You can sleep in his class and he doesn't mind but participating from time to time really helps your grade. Besides, his class is interesting. Also, the class is almost always ended 30 or more minutes early.
By far one the best english teachers I've ever had. He really cares about his students and will give you all the tools you need to do great in his class. The lectures do get long and can be very boring but overall would definetly recommend.
Geoffrey Cook is great at explaining important concepts and ideas in books. He repeats the main points in a text clearly as any English teacher should do, which is helpful for essays. His essays are not too hard and achieving a grade for them in the 90s is possible if you put in an actual decent amount of effort. The lectures are helpful and the class is often let out 30 minutes earlier.
He's a great guy, if you pay attention in class somewhat you will end up with a good mark, barely paid attention most of the semester in his classes but his essays are worth a lot and are very easy if you listen to the key points he talks about. Long class but he is very helpful if you ask. Highly recommend.
funny guy, really cool
I would recommend Geoff. He is a really nice guy but he speaks a little monotone sometimes, he tries to be interesting though. He tried to make some jokes in class which I found funny but the rest of the class was so dead nobody really acknowledged it. I found the instructions for some of the essays confusing but he usually gets you to submit an outline and he corrects it and tells you what he wants to see. Also helpful if you go see him. When I had him he let us out early every time.
hes a nice and polite guy. tries to be funny and nice to his students. he is a bit monotone and doesn't speak up very much. his lectures can get really long but he knows it and apologizes for it. he's there to help you. he can sometimes be confusing, but he'll let you know everything you need to get a good grade. he's never in a bad mood.
SUCH and amazing guy! Literally never in a bad mood and he's always so calm and respectful and super funny. He does talk super low so i suggest you sit in the front so you can hear him. If you have any questions for him he'll always be there to answer them. Never gives any homework unless you have to do some reading but thats once in a while. His classes do get boring somethings cause its just him talking about poems and books but thats honestly the only negative! I highly recommend him!
(Love in Shakepeare) he was such a nice teacher! easy marks, easy to approach. his body gestures were funny. i would love to take him again if i could. very respectful and polite. love love loveeee geoffrey cook! if you take him please be nice to him, because he's super sweet
geoff (and his mane) is THE nicest, calmest guy and never in a bad mood. hes very genuine and knows his books. he does take long to correct and post marks. english was my favourite class because if you talk 1on1 he'll tell you everything you need to get good marks.
Not always very clear when explaining assignments but overall great, funny guy who is really passionate about what he is teaching.
Really good teacher, really helpful and funny, although his voice is slightly sleep-inducing. A generally really great guy who is really passionate about English and really knows what he's doing.
ohhh Geoffrey. I must admit that this teacher definitely grew on me. He's a very hard grader and sometimes hard to listen to, but he's super chill and you do learn some stuff. I had him for Intro To Lit.. if you PAY ATTENTION and GIVE YOUR WORK ON TIME, it'll be easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Super super chill... classes are easy and pass by quick. Doesn't really care if you miss class, just hand in all work and you'll be fine. Definitely a must have teacher.
Really chill. The only down side is his assignments tend to be kinda unclear, but if you ask him questions he's really helpful. Take him!
He’s a really nice teacher. However, there’s a ton of reading to do and he’s classes are extremely boring. The class average was in the 80s
Geoffrey is amazing. He gives a lot of work but you actually enjoy his class. The stories and books we had to read were actually interesting. If you're willing to work and learn you'll do great!
Middle Eastern Literature was great with him - interesting discussions where he is open to other people's opinions. Pretty good marks if you pay attention and read (at least some of) the material.
i love geoffrey hes amazing. There's a lot of work in his class but its easy and the books are really good and not boring. He's amazing take him definitely!!
He was okay, not very understanding, but I can't expect a stranger to care about my personal life, overall really nice teacher, a bit boring, but do-able.
one of the nicest teacher's i've ever had and yet the most boring. very leniant, respectful, and is interested in what his students have to say, but if your attention span is lacking, i'd avoid him
Had him for middle eastern literature easiest class ever just do all your work and pay attention to ideas in class and you can manage 85, i actually enjoyed english for the first time
Absolutely amazing, but the rating I'm giving him his likely influenced by the mark I got with him
Definitely one of the best english teachers! Don't drop him if you get him, easy marker and always there to help you! I'll take him again if I had the chance.
Funny, and definitely a big fan of his own course content. Any class with him is awesome!
Really nice teacher, loves the subject he teaches; had him for mythology. I acctually really enjoyed that course and ended up with a high mark. If you read the material & do all the homework you'll be fine. Amazing class!
he is a good teacher but sometimes the class is boring because he talks too much... he makes me learn a lot in english and he is an easy marker.
He does tend to talk alot but he rarely keeps you in for the entire class and his marking scheme isn't too rought on students who struggle with English. His reading material isn't the best but his assignments and essays are a breeze, don't drop it if you get him he was actually really good. I got my highest mark in English in his course.
Dull, boring, but a nice guy. Lots of reading to do. Loves what he teaches though. Overall pretty good but it was very hard to stay awake.
Lectures can be pretty boring. His is pretty monotone. He is not always very clear with assignment instructions. He is pretty passionate about what he is teaching, which is a good thing. He is a fairly easy marker.
good teacher. very funny. his class isn't too much work.
nice guy, very into teaching, although the class is challenging and the lessons can be very boring after two hours of hearing a man talk. the subject is either one you will really like or not really like at all
Very cool teacher. Loves what he does, and offers a lot of help. He's tough though, certainly harder than most teachers so if you're not good at writing avoid him, otherwise he's great.
geoff is a very nice, calm and understanding man. he loves what he teaches which makes it interesting. loved his greek mythology class as my first english 2 years ago..very helpful and supporting.
He's a really nice guy and a good teacher but unfortunately he's stuck with a really boring subject. Take down his ideas and transform those into really easy essays. Easy marker but unfortuantely his passion is placed in a subject which evokes little or no interest in the students.
He's a nice guy and a good teacher but his class can be boring. The material was really interesting and I ended up doing really well. Plus he's an easy marker if you write what he wants...
One of the best! Easy marks, passionate teacher! Doesn't mind if you have conversations all class, lets you go early all the time, tells you everything you need to write an essay. Not too much work; if you don't do the readings he assigns it's O.K cause you just read it all again in class. Work load = minimal
Geoff is a good guy. He helps you after class if you need it. Lectures are clear but boring at times. He is an average marker though.
He's a great guy but his classes were really unorganized and rather boring. The readings were mainly interesting, but this class was nothing outstanding. He is very helpful though!
GREAT guy! Gave me entire outline for essays. Interesting class. Funny. Flexible. Easy marker (english is my worst subject). Passionate about what he does. One of the BEST!
simply an amazing teacher.. I got 83 in english and it's my worst subject... makes it easy and beleive it or not.. he made greek mythology really interesting
overall good teacher...kind of boring and monotone but the tests are easy as long as you listen somewhat. don't need to read the books, just listen in class.
Great teacher over-all. His teaching methods were unique and thought-out very well. One of the top English teachers there..and a real-life poet!
overall a good teacher. comedy class not really funny, but he himself is funny.
Really loves Mythology!!! Which is a good thing coz he's passionnate about what he's teaching, but classes are somewhat boring. He is far and extremely helpful.
THE most helpful teacher. Extremely fair. And it's good to have a teacher that's young and nice to look at (although he's quite the skinny one).
He's a good guy. Make sure to take down his ideas in class. Transform those into an essay, and put in a bit of effort and you're almost guaranteed a good mark.
His voice is monotone, so his class might put you to sleep. But, he's very helpful... plus, his clothing keeps you interested.
very monotone, but he's alright...Had him for mythology where you read waaay too deeply into classic literature.
Great teacher--extremely fair, and clear, and makes himself available to his students for any questions. The best Eng, prof. to have your first semester.
Great teacher, interesting to listen to, you'll learn a lot.
