Smart and intelligent teacher. Can be tedious at times because he marks hard, but he makes sure you understand the content and what could be improved on. Marks quick too

A very understanding and knowledgeable teacher. I don't think that any other teacher is as great as him, I learned a lot in his class but I also enjoyed his class a lot. I've had socials 9 and planning 10 with him. He is a teacher who will always help students do their best and goes the extra mile to teach us more.

Excellent teacher. He makes sure that you are prepared for tests and is very fair when it comes to marking. He's the teacher that would devote a lot of his personal time helping struggling students. He doesn't assign that much textbook work, but rather through class discussion so students would actively participate and understand the information.

Probably the best teacher I'll have in my high school career. Even though he is very strict when it comes to grading, he prepares us for the future. He engages in classroom discussion and actually teaches us. He isn't like the other teachers who tell you just to read the whole textbook. Mr. Yu is extremely happy and willing to help his students to succeed... just amazing.

I don't understand why people complain about him. Mr. Yu is an awesome teacher! Had him for Socials 9 and Planning. He marks hard but it helps you get better in future classes for socials and in planning when he marks your resumes it will improve your skills to help you find a job. I hope I will have him again in socials 11, although I don't think I can risk having Christie again...

He is the BEST socials teacher in SLSS hands down. People complain how he's hard and stuff, and he is, but he is so inspiring and knowledgeable. I even took summer school for Socials 10 just to get into his Socials 11 class, I had him for Socials 09 and it was phenomenal, his games and debates are awesome and he has such fun projects that make you actually use your brain. He goes over many topics repetitively, but he prepares you for the SS11 provincial. One reminder, he used to teach English.

His teaching is unorthodox compared to others. If you're going to write a paragraph in his class, you need to EXPLAIN clearly. He also talks about how Richmond will have an earthquake (scary stuff). He's definitely a super hard marker but his way of teaching is very helpful. I am now more interested in Social Studies because of him!

I had Mr. Yu for planning 10. He's a good teacher... except he can see every single phone in the class and has a very annoying east coast accent despite learning English locally.

Wonderful, witty, and knowledgeable teacher. Had a lot of great times in his class "portaging" around the school with our "canoes" (desks) to explain the hardships of the NWC fur traders. I learned a lot in his class, and my socials mark improved a LOT from the previous year. One thing that kind of bothers me is the fact that I can't tell when he's being serious or joking at times because of his serious face... although, it makes the joke that much funnier when we find out he's just kidding.
