Had him many years ago when physics was a definite weakness. Not after his class. As an engineer, I can say it would not have been possible with out him. Thank you!
He is a great teacher, his test might be a bit hard. But he has no problem explaining you all ur questions for 2 hours. he will take all the time he has to help you undersand physics
This guy knows his physics. He was the best science teacher: reason why he is dean of science now. Congrats to him.
He's unclear, scribbles on the board and gets lost in his notes. He teaches by the book, which shows he hardly knows what he's talking about! He is nice though... if you have no better option take him
veryyyy nice teacher. explains very well in class and extremly helpful outside of class. i enjoyed his class very much, he is extremly passionate about physics. he is sooo sweet and is a very reasnable marker. i would definitly take him again. if you want to learn and is looking for an interesting class i recomend taking him.
I had him 2 semesters in a row (Mechanics, Waves and Modern Physics) and I would definitely take him again. He is always prepared and uses many techniques, props, images, animations, and suggested problems to explain the material. He is very calm and often makes jokes that are only funny to some ("How are we for time?" always precedes "Not good.") He is often clear and for some he can be interesting, but at times he can lose track. Labs, quizes, and exams and fair and doable. Great teacher.
he is very monotonous , will make you fall asleep. He always uses powerpoint and gives long tests . only good thing about him is that the lab reports are only ever second week for waves
Hetherington is the best physics teacher! He explains everything very well and he understands his students. He is always willing to help. His tests are just right, they're very fair - not too hard, not too easy. All my lab reports I either got 8 or 9 on 10. The only problem is that his voice is vey monotone, so it can be a pretty boring class and sometimes you might catch a few ZZZs. All you have to do is stay awake, pay attention, take notes and you'll do fine.
He is the SWEETEST, NICEST teacher at Vanier. Very helpful, always willing to help and cares a lot about the students + good sense of humour and always in a good mood. I had him for astrophysics, very easy and interesting class. Uses powerpoint slides and shows a lot movies + easy exams, although I guess his other courses are a bit more challenging but a least you will really learn somehting. Don is a very professional and well-organized teacher. I don`t understand why people are complaining.
Don teaches really well. If you don't understand physics with him, then physics are really not your thing. He's the BEST physics teacher in Vanier. Be ready to work though, because his tests are not easy. Despite that fact, I'm still convinced that everybody should have a physics teacher like him.
I loved this teacher just because he made Physics interesting. If you want a fun class take this guy. Unfortunately, for those slackers out there, you have to work HARD to get your marks. Quizzes are straightfoward, tests are a difficult, But he's always willing to help.
He's just okay, I would say. Tests are fair, if you study for them. Labs are easy and fun to do. If you're a fairly good student expect a mark in the 70s with him.
If you're extremely theoretical don't take him. If your planning on going into engineering or something like that then go ahead. He's fair and very smart. Hw knows his stuff, never makes mistakes...ever.. Understand his work, dont memorize stuff or ull just fial cuz his tests are tricky but very duable
He's a great teacher. Explains everything clearly and consistently, shows the basic tricks to solve problems and is always there to help you. Advice: always do some of his study guides on a regular basis and you will not fall behind.
what you all talking about, you guys are complaining that you have to work hard to get grades, i mean come on! Just study the problems and your notes and you'll do fine. Tests aren't that hard, he even made the final 108 points and put it over 100 to help us.
He's actually a pretty good teacher. His lectures are interesting, his tests are fair, but the only complaint is the notes. If you have him, you have to write down what he's saying AND what he's writing, or else they won't make any sense. Otherwise, he's a good teacher.
(Waves) He's a very nice guy but very tricky as well. He sometimes gets lost with the theory and forgets what he was talking about. He gives out helpful examples from the (Benson) book but the questions on his tests are more challenging that that. Quizzes you the week before the test. (Tough marker)
His tests are short and easy. Just know everything mentionned from study guide (READINGs ARE COMPULSORY) and you'll do fine. Spend the whole semester tutoring instead of studying and I pulled off a 80. And study his notes though it's just derivations which are also very important to study in order to know your material.
Expects students to do work on their own. Exams and quizzes are of fair difficulty if you prepared. Always willing to help during office hours. Interesting too.
Does not know how to teach, is very slow and marks unfairly.
Hard marker, you have to work hard for your marks.Test questions are not as simple. He is very slow and takes the whole day to explain one question.
He is nice and everything but it doesn't help when it comes to exams and on top of that he does not know how to teach...have to use the book at all times.
He gives students time but don't get excited because wait till you see the exams.ONLY if you know ur material really well will you get a 70.Hard & Unfair Marker
He is never satisfied by what you write in the exams. Always wants more. Tests are long and hard.
He's a very nice man and very willing to elp you out but he does not know how to teach, just gives you a stupid theory and some formulas. study with the book.
Always willing to help. Easy quizzes.Average tests. Very nice man but not always clear in class. Be prepared to study by yourself from the book.
He's really clear, extremely organized and super helpful. Every class is well prepared and if you have questions he'll work with you until you understand.
He gives you super duper easy quizzes and then gives you the hardest exam in the world. He NEVER gives examples, he only derives the formula for an entire class
Astro was the best class I took in Cegep... and one of the best teachers I had too!
Very clear and willing to help. An authentic teacher. You need to work for your marks though and make an effort.
he will make u love physics, and astro class is a joy to be! in
Hard Marker but Great Teacher (one of the few who can teach physics).
