Amazing teacher would definitely take him again!
Listen folks, we're not talking about any average teacher here. We're talking about the linear god here. This guy is literally the god of linear. He knows every single detail. He makes impossible become possible (which is how he describes linear 2 class as well). But be aware of one fact, he is an aged man. So while he knows a lot about what he's teaching, sometime he might be unable to explain properly. Just make sure you copy all the note and ask question if you're not certain.
Denis is a very nice guy but he's not the best teacher. He only gives you maple labs no homework so you have to work on your own from the textbook. Also, his exams are easy which doesnt help at all because the final is gonna be the shock of your life
Honestly I would stay away. He is clearly knowledgeable and a nice person, but he does not prepare you for the final at all. Switch out if you can or be prepared to use other teacher notes.
Nice guy, extremely easy exams in class, but does not prepare you for final exams. Let me repeat, he does not prepare you for that 50% final exam that is going to fail you by surprise at the end of the semester. My suggestion, study another teacher's final review package instead of going along with the misleading review package given by Denis.
Like everyone's said, the guy really knows his stuff. He's a bit awkward but you get used to his lectures. Very clear explanations throughout lectures, though class can get pretty boring. Nice guy, no homework so you'll need to take it upon yourself to study the text book a lot as he only gives review sheets before an exam. Definitely would take him again.
Had him for Cal 1, although you can tell he's smart, he can be very confusing at times. He doesn't give much work, but he highly expects you to do the textbook problems. His tests are fair, but did not prepare me for the final at all. Avoid him if you can.
He is a good teacher but his class is quite boring. He gives 3 or 4 assignments but you have to do the optional work from the textbook to understand the material.
I had him for Cal 1. He's a cute awkward man but the way he teaches the class is pretty boring. He's really clear at explaining but I found myself falling asleep in his class pretty often. Don't expect him to know your name either unless if you visit him during office hours. Also, don't expect any Webworks or Omnivox. He's really old fashioned and will give you occasional assignments that you have to do on paper. Cal 1 is no easy subject, no matter what teacher you have so it all depends on you.
Had him for linear algebra I
This guy is a fantastic Math teacher, i Highly suggest you take if you can, its impossible for anyone to teach a subject more clear. Although he is a man of few words, he is a fantastic Teacher.
Had him for Linear Algebra I and Linear Linear Algebra II. He knows very well the subject and clearly explains while giving a lot of examples. His maplelabs can be pretty challenging, but if you go and see him during his office hours, he'll help you through it. One of the best teachers I had at Abbott.
The truly great thing about this teacher is that he explains everything in such a clear way there's no way you'll have questions about his lectures. If you take notes in class maple labs won't be much of a challenge and you will be prepared for the tests and final. I highly recommend him!
He is one of the teachers that really know their subject inside out. Take Linear with him. His maple labs are a bit of a challenge, but they prepare you for the tests. If you pay attention in class, everything will be clear to you and you won't have to do much work. He is a bit repetitive but you'll be grateful for that!
Really awesome teacher, his notes are really clear and he's a pretty chill marker, you don't have to study too much for his class.
I had this teacher for Linear 1, hes an amazing teacher, his notes are really clear. Maple labs are way too hard and if you study his notes and do some example from the book, you'll do fine. His tests are a good practice for the final! Overall he's good, im def taking him for Linear 2. Take him
Best Teacher of life. I had him for Linear I and Linear II. He knows everything about everything, he isn't a teacher that doesn't even understand what their teaching. He's super clear in his explanations. He is very fair. All the work you'll do in class and during tests is exactly what you'll see on the finals.
He doesn't joke around very much but he's not mean at all either, he's rather neutral. His explanations are very clear and he'll answer any of your questions if you ask. A great cal teacher to have.
Linear 1: Structures the course in a way that 2 of his 4 tests are super easy. His maple labs are pretty tough, but his tests are very fair and prepare you well for the final. His only downfall is that he is a strict marker at times
Awesome teacher, knows what he is doing. Linear isn`t an easy class as most will say, you still have to work hard, but if you do, you`ll find his class pretty straightforward. Prepares REALLY WELL for the final too since his tests are somewhat hard but it`s worth it. RECOMMENDED.
He was amazing, just study all your notes, do his practice tests before the actual test and you'll do fine. You need to study a lot and listen. He repeats stuff often, but it will make it stick. TAKE
He's great with his Linear 2 students, really helpful and the class material is really interesting. Maple labs can get pretty long though. Only take his Linear 2 class if you love math.
Knows his subject and is mostly organized. However, he doesn't give credit for anything on tests so even if you were 3/4 of the way to the answer, you get nothing.
He's scrap. To be honest, I don't think he could have done much worse. He makes an easy subject complicated. It's like pulling teeth. He's so boring which compounds to the fact that he stutters.
Very nice teacher. He lets math seem so easy and he gives a bonus question before every test. His exams are also very fair; on everything u've seen; no surprises. Besides, his classes last ~1h :)
I worked a lot in his class and failled 2 exams over 3. He gives absolutely no partial credits. If you have a hard time in math, DON'T take him.
Avoid him, don't be decieved by the rating. After he gave a test back to us he said that if you wrote the equation for a plane instead of a line you get 0 marks for the question. Gives few part marks.
He knows his material very well and enjoys teaching it. He doesn't give a lot of extra questions, so unless you're brilliant, it will really help if you keep good notes and do the practice tests.
He is definately the worst. I had no clue at all how to do anything in the second unit... and I'm one of the loners who keeps to themselves. The only way you'll pass is by not coming to his class
This guy is a genious, his classes arent really interactive but if you pay attention, guarantee high pass
he knows his stuff, very smart teacher. he pauses and studders a lot but if you have any questions he is very helpful. His tests have a lot of theory questions..
Great Teacher, just a little misunderstood. Prepares you well for test and final. He's also a genius.
Don't expect to be entertained during his class, but he does know math, and does do a good job. It may be hard to stay awake, but if you manage to pay attention you will learn something. Not the best but there are much worse!
He is a brilliant man, makes his tests harder than the final to prepare you for the final, and makes some pretty funny jokes in class. You'll learn to love robot number 3. I suggest you take him to learn something!!
He will bore the life out of you , and he wont even know who you are by the end of the semester. He is really bad at explaining questions and once threw chalk at my friend for talking. But his tests are fair but by the end of the semester the class is practically empty cuz nobody bothers coming.
Took him for Linear, not the greatest teacher. Don't take him. You won't be rpepared for the exam. He doesn't prepare you well enough for his own tests. The practice tests are nothing like the real test. don't take him.
his pre calculus class was very boring and he doesnt even know your name by the end of semester. However, he does provide very good practice tests and his tests are fair.
He's overrated.Class is painfully boring. He's smart, but is hard to listen to, and can't explain the material well.Unhelpful with questions b/c he cannot understand your perspective/issues when approaching the material.
Very helpfull in class and his teaching methods are by far better than daniel henniquin or boshuck or squire. He is challenging but you end up knowing everything about Linear stuff and no surprises on the final. RECOMENDED!!!
I had him for Linear I and it was the worst class I ever took. His explanations are unclear, his lectures are slow, boring and he never gets to the point. His class tests are hard, only reason I passed was because of the final.
Great Teacher He knows how to explain And easy to understand everything is based on logic
MAN THIS GUY IS HILARIOUS...he's quiet in the class and quiet outside... always says "well...welll...welll" when you ask him a question and he makes you understand the subject. take him if you want to do good on the final...
linear algebra II - i had never taken him b4 and thats prob y i didnt do very well. lots of maple labs (he assumes u understand how to use it, if u took him b4 ud know how, thats y i didnt do too well). if ur not an honours student, this is a very hard course trust me. also, he write his own book -> skips many steps in examples (confusing) and his "solutions book" (only answers) is almost all blank! lots of theory too! :S 3rd test is easiest by far. i barely passed. ave. is good cuz of the honours students
Denis Sevee is an amazing teacher. He's smart, funny, well organized, and he teaches math in a understandable way. He's a great guy, his classes are very interesting. AWESOME.
Took him for Linear Algebra I. He explains the theory well and gives very good notes.
Dear God...where do I start? Linear II is an interesting subject, and Sevee's very into it. WARNING: HARD LABS; DO THEM IN GROUPS. He's a hard marker too, but meh, it's not an excuse; you gotta study. He's a very nice guy though and has a decent sense of humor. We make him laugh every class. Along with Will Boshuck, he's another Math God.
great knowledge of linear...but, very boring, unorganized, hard grader, and doesnt help...never gives homework so u have no practice....1 maple lab class a week, which is useless..i managed to barely pass but on all my own efforts....
Sevee is always willing to answer questions, and is very enthousiastic about math. A great teacher. I would not hesitate to take him again.
Sevee is by far the best linear teacher at abbott. He makes everything seem easy and clarifies everything. TAKE HIM.. go to class and you're garanteed 70+ (i got 92)
Prepared me well for the Cal II final. He is an excellent teacher; I would suggest working through the Dobson files throughout, and reading over your notes to absorb the material.
Brilliant, somewhat neurotic but really knows what he's doing and is good at explaining. He doesn't give homework, though so be prepared to pactice on your own.
Be responsible, practice. Otherwise, Sevee is the grandmaster of math
He is always there for help. He is a lot better then Shiraz Hosein. He likes his job and he shows it. Taking calculus with him is no mistake. I didn't think it was. Peace out.
He's an awesome teacher. He really knows his stuff. He teaches them in such a way that it is easy to understand, which makes cal much easier.
Sevee was an ok teacher, he was not however interesting. I got a 28% on oneof his tests. DO PRACTISEPROBLEMS, his course isnot a handout so work and ull pass !
He's a great cal teacher. He knows his stuff and his tests are fair. He has a good sense of humour. Weird at times but definately a good teacher.
Sevee is a great teacher, but dont expect him to be super sweet, he doesnt have pets, and he doesnt give if u dont show up to class, ull just fail moron
Highly intellectual person, very clam but has a good sense of humor, always there to help students, knows perfectly his stuff, clear explanation and easy tests
His teaching is in a logical order, and is clear. Tests are fair and mostly straight-forward. Gives some challenging homework problems. o.O
Most brilliant math teacher. It felt like math helped me wake up in the morning cuz his classes were so interesting. Subtle but smart sense of humor
Really good teacher! One can easily see that he likes his job. Clear explanations, fair exams.
Awesome teacher, knows his stuff well, doesn't take attendance, hard tests, but you'll pass with decent marks if you practice the stuff. He's gonna marry Maple!
Really good teacher, if a bit dry - if you pay attention he explains everything really well
He's a good teacher, pretty hard tests, and knows his stuff. Runs away after class, if you can find him he'll help you, and he's pretty good at it.
knows his stuff and knows how to teach, tests are fairly easy if you put in the effort, mapple labs are actually helpful, i recomend him highly!
Great guy, knows his math, teaches well. Doesn't take attendance.
This guy was my best math teacher at John Abbott. I learned
more in his linear algebra class than all my other math courses
Denis is a great teacher...he puts the material in the simplest form to undersand. His tests are fair....60% is given, and the rest depends on the work u put in
Good teacher but tests burn you and you have to keep up with his studdering...you have your 2 hour lab on maple so you learn everything in the 2/3 the class
Good teacher. Knows his stuff. Really knows his stuff!
DAVID LETTERMAN!!!!!! Cool guy, knows his stuff, burns students a lot! Hard tests tho, real tricky. Really knows his stuff tho.
Looks like david letterman & is nice guy. Goes really fast in class and his explanations are hard to understand. I got 84% for cal 2 but was struggling.
