I've rated her prior but is now giving her a five-star completely due to her passion for teaching and education. In so many years of schooling, Vogl is the only teacher who went outside the box to teach us the 8 literary elements. In addition, she is very friendly, easy to talk to and marks easy (though this is heavily disputed). It is sad that I probably won't get her again after grade 9. Unlike other people's opinion, she is an excellent teacher who really made English 9 IB a fresh experience.
she explains well and answers questions when asked
Ms. Vogel is one of the most polarizing teachers in my opinion. Many dislike her because of her very tedious voice and lessons. While I agree with the former, I will also state that Ms. Vogel has the enthusiasm to teach and unlike other teachers, she still wants the best for her students. She's a poor teacher overall, but she puts the effort into her job, as it just seems like she needs to learn a little more. I will give her the credits for at least trying to be a decent teacher, so 4-Stars.
It has only been a month into the term, so I am not too familiar with her. She is very nice, and I heard she grades very easily. What's keeping her from earning that 5-Star, is her extremely monotonous voice. Unlike Mme. ( or Ms.) Herzog, she is just unengaging. It started off fine, as she allowed us to work on homework in class, but man, she lectured us today for the whole block. She can also stop her telling us her positive "philosophy" towards learning, it's more suited for parents to know.
Ms.Vogel does a good job of teaching her English 9 class. In order to demonstrate how literary elements are used in real literature, she made students analyze The Veldt, a short story by famous writer Ray Bradbury. Comprehensive notes are provided about literary elements, and Ms. Vogel is usually fairly easy to understand. Assignments have set due dates (two book reviews and several analyses of The Veldt for different lit. elements), but students often miss due dates; Ms. V is generally lenient.
Ms Vogel truly has the enthusiasm for teaching, but her way of doing so cannot be accepted by many students. Instead of actually teaching us the skills to writing and giving us recommendations in reading, she just lets us do whatever we want and call it "self regulated learning". Honestly, isn't the teacher's job to teach? We have been studying "the veldt" for over three months and nothing else. All of my other friends are learning Shakespeare already. Why, Ms Vogel should start TEACHING more.
Love her! One of the best teachers I've ever had and her course is super easy!!
I have her for PRE IB 9 Block 5 and i fell asleep...she hasn't done anything with us at all, she tells us what we are going to do tomorrow but never what we are doing today, i heard from previous students, good luck, i think ill need it.
I learned a few things, but that class was really boring and she never marked our things on time. I disliked her class and I was completely confused half the time, she picks out favorites in the class too and she marks unfairly towards some students. Oh and she never gave us the answers for the test, and we worked with THE VELDT for a full semester!!!
I had her when I was in gr.9. Honestly, I didn't learn anything.
For grade 9 English she wasn't too bad and is a fairly easy marker. For grade 12 she didn't give us A SINGLE TEST! every assignment was optional and the one project she assigned didn't even teach us anything.I ended up just showing up for attendance everyday then dipping out early cause she never had a lesson plan. Worst English teacher ever, screwed me over for the provincial! If you don't wanna have to do all the learning on your own time switch out of her class!
i unfortunately did not learn a thing in ms. vogel's english class which had me unprepared for all the future english classes i had..... she pretends like she's teaching us a lot and as if she knows a lot but it really doesn't help.... any of it
I did not learn a thing, she hasn't been helpful. She doesn't keep you up to date on marks, no exam, no assignment for marks, obsessed with her life stories and talks for too long about it. I am gripping the end of the string here.
Teaches class the basics, but she really doesn't care about your grades. She comes to class every day as if she's hungover. If if you're late by two minutes, get ready for a long and serious talk and your absenses.
She seems very knowledgeable, and explains things very well. She usually is really nice if you ask her for help in class. She marks the essays we write very hard but fair. Overall she is a good teacher.
overall good teacher but the work is sometimes hard and unclear
Love her! She was by far the best english teacher i've ever had. I actually learned things in her class as compared to other english class. She may be a tough marker but atleast you learn something.
whenever she asks for your opinion your opinion is always wrong. She does not allow you to finish your sentence when talking. Very mean and strict. Somebody has to be humiliated in each of her classe
Biased teacher, quick to jump conclusions and contridicts her own own statutes. Needs to acually teach, show up to class early and respect students
On Lit reviews you need to work really hard...and have to hand assignments in on time...It was a very fun class lots of disscussion...at least in grade 9 IB...overall very good.
Predictable, great ideas but learned less than i should of learnt
Nice and easy teacher, but I had her for Gr. 9. We did nothing. I've heard horror stories from her Gr. 12 students, and I don't doubt them at all.
she didn't show up to class for half of the semester, but she was really nice when she was there. Didn't teach much in class so the provincial was hard.
she was a lot of fun~ i had a lot of gooud laughs from her class!!
I think i showed up to class more than her... but she still awsome...
OMG her class I got to sleep in! plus she bumped me up to IB lol
