BEST. PHYS ED. TEACHER. EVER
also roasts ppl gets hilarious at times
Had a great experience with him, may seem scary at first, sure, but you do get used to him. He really knows his stuff and makes sure you understand it as well and not just the right answer. If you're a good student in his class, then you'll have no problems at all with this teacher. He certainly made my time at Fairview great, and I recommend him to students who really want to learn and are determined.
portelli is a good guy and all but i was not a good student in the begging of the year i was quiet one and he picked on me the most and i got scared every time but i understood why he was trying to show me there is no point of being afraid and i understood him and i have constantly raised up my hand for the answer now he knows i am not afraid he picks on other kids. but he is retiring he is going to cranston for assistant principle and i am leaving for high school so we are moving on together
Don't do anything stupid or he will roast the hell out of you. He is really smart and knows a ton about math but if your a bad student say goodbye. Personally my experience with him is good. In grade 7 I was not a very good student and he yelled at me a lot but now he is chill and I have learned to do my work. His tests are not that close to what we do in the textbook and they are fairly hard. He got mad at me once cause I had no idea on how to plant seeds. Overall a solid teacher.
Portelli is smart. He knows his math and he knows what he's talking about in class. But I guess that's his job, so it's nothing impressive. I had him for math 2 years ago and I have to say, he's given teachers quite a bad look for me. He's the reason why I know that bad teachers exist and I'd rather skip class and self teach if I ever get a teacher like him. Mess up once and he ridicules you for the rest of your time at that school. It's humiliating and I hope he realizes he's a horrible person.
I just finished Math 20, thanks to him, in grade 10. Just try your best in his class. He is a very good teacher, however has no people skills. He yelled at my parents in parent teacher interviews because I got 60% on a test. Id absolutely recommend him, just don't get him mad at you. just get through grade 8, and grade 9 will be fun. He's way more chill in grade 9, doing grade 10 work.
Had him as my math teacher 4 years ago. He was alright as a teacher (learning and knowledge wise) but he always picked on students, humiliated them etc. When I first met portelli I thought he was nice but that all went down the drain. He was my math teacher for 2 years. All that humiliation has affected me even to this day. It'd be nice to know why he resorted to humiliating his students honestly like that's just messed up and plain wrong.
Mr. Portelli was the best thing that happened to me when it came to anything to do with math and numbers, also any other class. He taught me to look at stuff without complicating it and he made everything very simple. He had a head on approach and those who disliked him didn't like the fact that he was a straight up teacher who didn't go on random tangents and gave away marks here and there. He didn't care whether you had the right answer, he cared whether you knew what you were doing.
Yes, that is him.
THIS TEACHER IS GODLIKE
THIS TEACHER IS LEGENDARY
PROMOTE TO PLAT 3 PLS
HE IS A GREAT MATH TEACHER
scary. i mean hes extremely tough and is basically looking for a flaw just to correct you
really strict but nice and funny also a good teacher
PORTELLI OP JUKE GODDDDDDDD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I R8 8/8 M8 LETS CELEBR8 AND LET F8 DECIDEE WHO U GET MY NOOOOOOOOOB SKRUBLORD
Is honestly an amazing math teacher. He makes sure you understand the concept or he'll explain it in a different way. Seems a bit scary and may pick on you occasionally but his classes are fun and educational. Really glad I had him as my math teacher :)
The moment you walk into Fairview School someone is going to warn you about Mr.Portelli and what a terrible teacher he is, but hear it from a student who had him for 3 years, he is not that bad! Yes, in grade 7 ( the first year I had him) he was extremely intimidating but honestly I think it was just because of the illusion created about him by older students. If you are willing to work hard, do what you are suppose to be doing and give him a little time to get used to you, he is a blast!
Great teacher, not as bad as I heard.
Maybe it's cuz we're older now, but you seem a lot less intimidating and scary from like, grade seven. Did you get a girlfriend or something? Whatever the reason, i think you are a pretty cool teacher, like one you could talk back to and get away with it. Not as bad a teacher as i was told, Portelli
he hates everyone
I had you as a teacher almost 6 years ago? 7? and you were the reason I got migraines and hated school. I'm sorry mr portelli, but you really did ridicule students, me in particular. and it had a huge impact on my learning for the rest of my school days. teachers are not suppose to be like that, they are suppose to build you up and educate you and help you understand when you are stuck. you, did a poor job and if I were as outspoken back then like I am today, you'd be a better person by now.
I honestly hate him. He gives us questions from the textbook which are easy but on the tests there are super hard questions. From September -June he has taught barely 6 proper lessons like on the smart board. He just expects us to learn on our own
WORST TEACHER EVER LEAVE FAIRVIEW IF YOU GET HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he's fine, normal teacher but way too harsh, embarrases people, teachers shouldnt do that.
A very good teacher at my school, he is very eccentric about learning, cracking a joke every once in a while. He sure knows what he is talking about when he's teaching everyday. The homework load is higher than usual, and some people dislike this, but my opinion is that it is just the right amount of homework for letting us remember what we learned in class and to enforce it. He is very clear about everything he teaches us. Overall, I think he might be the best math teacher I had yet.
he is a great teacher! i love his class he is really funny and being in his class makes my day.
He kind of scares me, but he's a good teacher, and by the time we're in grade 12, we won't need to take math :)
At the beginning of the year, he was okay; I can say now that I've come to hate him. A lot of students find him helpful and a good teacher, which he is an okay teacher, but he chooses the classes based on your math grade. My friend told me it was to talk slower to the below average class, but this causes humiliation to the below average class. Also, I don't see why any of the other teachers can't choose, they might want to speak slower to different students. Overall, I think he's really unjust..
he is a good teacher, can be funny at times. gets mad at you for asking a question. if you do your work and your a good student you won't pick on you
Awesome teacher. Grade 8 math class was a blast. A little strict, sure, but if you do your part you won't get picked on, simple as that.
a very rude think he is the top of ever one and kick people out of class for no good reason if you are in his class you will fail
he is really mean to everyone and emotionally hurts their feelings:)
He does not put up with self centred, lazy little brats. Good for him.
was okay... not the worst but he was okay.... could be a bit less strict and less homework but he is okay.
He is sometimes helpful. He can get mad very easily and has a bad reputation. He sings and also is very good at math
I am one of his students. He is a great teacher and all but he is too strict and I just found out that he was a prfesional singer. Still, Mr. Portelli is great.
Mr. Portelli...Nuff said hes too sarcastic he acts liike hes umazing but hes not. Half...more than half oof the skool hates hiim. I dont thiiink he knoO's iitt ThoO.
he is a good volleyball coach. I liked him as a volleyball coach. He was very helpful as a volleyball coach.
Likes to ridicule students in front of their classmates. Not the education I was hoping for in today's society.
He's a pretty good teacher just really bad at helpfullness and clarity. Usually he teaches us something and just puts us to work which i like
not a bad teacher but sometimes he can be really strict
nha.he doest have favourites, he isnt biased, and he doest pick on anyone.durr. yes, hes strict and proper, but he is a pro. and ive learned so much from him. He is superior to any other teacher.
not a horrid teacher when it comes to the end of it... bad at explaining this and nobody really likes him he is way to strict
Portelli, this is my first year with you and guess what ? you make me happy to leave the school next year hope you have a fun year next year
not teaching our class what other classes are learning mean teacher
Good math teacher but he accused me of cheating once, but i actually did cheat so i dont blame him
he can be really difficult at times. but hes a really good math teacher.
Aced his class, what can I say? (Yearbook, not math.)
