She's nice, but took very little time to get to know other students. She continuously looks and works with the same students and doesn't really give opportunities to other students. I wish she took the time to know me, hence I was in her class for 2 years yet, I only saw her show up to class a few times and it was just to analyse and critique people's work. The programs are labour intensive and she recommends you not get an agent, which is why students don't get anywhere after Wexford!

Anne is not the best for teaching students how to sing, act and dance. Sometimes I feel she thinks of highschool like a production more than a place where people learn to love the arts. I believe that she has single handedly killed my love for the arts by trying to do to many things at once instead of focusing on a few things and actually doing them well.

Ann Merriam so many words to describe a lady with passion, vision and drive. Some may not like her because she does not know how to coddle peoples egos or may not like her because they didn't get the solo they wanted oh so bad. At the end of the day, she is a visionary. I don't use that word lightly. She is a visionary because she sees the magic in people, potential in new material and creates inspiring shows. In all, as a past student I know she has helped change my life for the better!

She has high expectations. There is no 1/2 assed job either you put your best foot forward or you are out. She has taught my daughter that the world isn't fair & though we may think our children are the best for the role the lesson is though you may be the best you may not always be chosen. She is tough but I do think she pulls out the best from the kids. She instills the lesson of put your best forward always & even though you are in the back you to can be seen. Ann has no time for crying

Best teacher ever! Kept my out of a lot of trouble. Strong knowledge of subject matter. Caring, funny, can be strict when necessary, but flexible when needed. I did not have a lead, but I can tell that students who did not but thought it was deserved were the haters. If I had a dime for every student who's life she made better I would be a rich man. The music theatre program was made as a way to keep students engaged and out of trouble. Yes lots of work and can be frustrating but so worth it.

A lot of the ratings here are that Ann is mean. She cares a lot and does everything to make us look the best on stage. She knows what she is doing as a professional. Just because most people didn't get a lead or a solo in a musical or show or anything doesn't mean she is mean, it just means that she is putting the best out there. She is strict but its all for the best reasons. She can be intimidating too. I agree with the favouritism part, she doesn't give people chances at lead roles or solos.

Ann Merriam is the epitome of teamwork and love. She is so passionate at what she does and it is admirable. She dedicates her life to these students and wants to gives positive message to the audience. If one student can affect an audience member and positively change their minds, her job is done. She radiates love. It's quite simple. It's either you're with her or you're not. And the people who don't understand her are people who do not understand how to open themselves to art.

Favouritism is a huge problem with this teacher. Her ego is too much to deal with too. It`s as if she thinks she`s a famous movie star and all her children are too. Constantly threatening to remove the non favourites in the program if they misbehave.

I love this woman, she inspires people a lot! she knows how to motivate her students, and she has made A LOT of sacrifices for us. We have to appreciate her. She is strict, yes, but she's the good kind of strict, the kind you won't regret later on in life. Everyone who rated her poorly, you are just too blind to see this.

As a student, i have to give her props for building up the performing arts program. That being said, it's PERFORMING ARTS, not MUSICAL THEATER! Her favoritism towards some students is incredibly unfair. The school is full of talent and she turns away from it all and only focuses on the few. Those few, get main rolls in plays, musicals, skits, and solos. Every year, those same students own the stage, and honestly, it gets boring.

As a parent of a music theatre student I was disgusted by the favoritism that went on the program. Her daughter walked into a main role in grade 9 while other grade 9s were told they were too young. Her favorites and family were spoiled and the others learned nothing but heartache. You couldn't go to the principal about her or your child would be threatened by her.
