If u have him, I highly recommend u switch out of his class if u can (especially if it's a grade 11 or 12 course). The actual work honestly isn't that bad and he doesn't really mind if u hand things in late - unless u do it often, in which case he'll start getting annoyingly passive-aggressive towards u. His lectures, discussions, and in-class activities r insanely boring. He's just plain annoying to listen to. I don't think I learned anything from his class, other than the from my own research.

Mr. McCabe is one of the most frustrating teachers I have ever had. His instructions are never clear, and often marks will be taken off assignments for not including something he never mentioned. He is laid back about due dates which is helpful, but you need to communicate. If you don't understand something or need more time, ASK HIM! He never engages his class in discussions. His class is the only one I have ever fallen asleep in. If you have his class, you have a lot of work to do. I'm sorry.

He isn't as bad as other's say he is in my opinion. Although he does stutter a lot, his discussions are indeed relevant to the subject, and his assignments aren't EXTREMELY bad, but I will say he has quite strict marking. After seeing the past reviews, I believe he has improved a lot, such as not clearly being biased, but, like everyone on this planet, can improve further. The fact that kids expect learning to be fun just pisses me off tbh, coming from a much harder private school.

I cannot agree with anything this man does on any basis. The constant talking causes almost everybody in the class to pass out along with the added favorites he keeps next to him at all times. He also tries to act as if nothing is wrong with the class he cannot be as blind to not notice everybody's boredom. All i can say is that this teacher is not for somebody who wan'ts to get the best out of history class.

Mr. McCabe is the single strangest and worst teacher I have ever had. He a) doesnt teach, just rants for 75 minutes. b) needs to chill with the mood lighting and obsession with natural sunlight. and c) gives 1305873280647187693028x more work than necessary. Literally makes an interesting subject the most boring and excrutiating class in the world. 10/10 would not recommend. Very painful to experience. He's so weird its somewhat entertaining though to be honest.

Angus McCabe is by far one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Multiple courses with him have shown me that this man is not only clueless about his subject matter, but heavily biased in his teaching style, only listening to his own opinion and disrespecting everyone else's, no matter what the subject is. He has clear favourites in his class, and if he does not like you, then will try to fail you in every way. If you have his class, try to switch out while you have the chance.

He is so useless whenever you ask him a question because he always avoids it and goes on a 7 minute tangent about something unrelated. Never expect a reply when you email him about an assignment--he's a "face-to-face" kind of teacher.
The in-class experience is worse. He drones on and on about. We never do any group work. We're not even allowed to TALK when we do textbook work. There is no interactive learning.
If you find out he's your teacher, switch out immediately. Seriously.

I had two classes with Mr. McCabe and got so much out of both of them. He is very passionate about what he teaches, and while not the best at time management, he at least pushes you hard to share his enthusiasm and learn as much as you can in a year. Yes there's a project every week, but just wait for university; McCabe is only getting you ready. Remember, whiners are wieners.
It's important to keep an open mind. You are not going to be fed the curriculum and be done with it.

A grotesque example of one of the most atrocious and outrageous beings to have haunted the halls of Lisgar throughout its prestigious 169 year history. It is sad that such a prestigious school would employ a person so incompetent, arbitrary, vague, biased and ignorant. McCabe shall forever remain a stain on the name of Lisgar Collegiate Institute as well as in the minds of those unfortunate enough to have sat in his class. We can only hope that the era of Angus McCabe comes to an end soon...
