Abraham is very unique. Hes a very nice teacher but he is very confusing when he explains something. As long as you keep up with the journals every week and readings, you will get an 90+ easy. Just keep up with the work and follow instructions and you will do well. A very funny teacher, swears a lot and brings bagels 3 times a semester. I would take him again because i like his teaching style, the laid back. But he is not for everyone as I could understand why some people dont like him
english class Japanese literature As long as you do the readings a Journals you should easily be able to get 85%+, as long as you do the work you can get 100% on 50% of the work, the other 50% comes from an essay and a final exam. marks you absent if youre on your phone but the easy solution is dont be on your phone. He brings bagels to class 3 times per semester which is nice. he can be boring sometimes but he can also be very interesting, depends what type of student you are i guess
Honestly has to be one of the brightest minds in the entire College. Very knowledgeable, open-minded, helpful. The only reason why people don't like him is cause he constantly shows how things are much deeper than they seem at face value, which makes most feel unintelligent. Very easy grader. Biggest complaint is he repeats himself quite a bit.
BEST ENGLISH TEACHER AT ABBOTT if you do all the work he assigns you will pass with an easy 90
Abe is a great teacher. He really knows what hes teaching ( Japonese Literature). There are constant journals to write based on the novels read in class/home but minimal work. Some reading tests here and there and easy exam based on the novels.
He talks ALOT. Usually not about the topic were supposed to learn about. You could miss all his classes and just read the textbook and you'll do fine. He gives a good amount of reading and texts on the readings every week but he gives HUGE hints when your taking the text. He doesn't example anything and if he does it usually changes and make sure you go over with him exactly what he wants from you.
Abe is the teacher you would like to have if you're semester is packed and loaded with assignments. His work load is extremely minimal and he gives reading tests which are about moments in the stories. Also, give the journals in time and make sure you note down in them the things he says about them coz later on it helps you in the exams.
Never been so confused in my life this guy does not explain anything whatsoever.. he expects you to know what your homework is without ever telling you. Otherwise, very nice guy, often goes on long unrelated tangents during the entire class
Worst teacher I've seen at Abbott. He gives sooo much work so I don't recommend taking him. Other than being a terrible teacher his classes are really boring, worst 2 hours of the whole day. He barely says anything important in class so it's a complete waste of time. He will mark you absent if you talk in class without even telling you. Overall try to avoid him as much as possible, if you're stuck with him good luck, you'll need it.
Had him for mythology. He knows his stuff, but is very unclear about assignments, so don't be shy about asking a question about them in class. He gets off topic pretty easily and the class is pretty boring. He did however bring bagels to class twice. All in all, I read almost none of the books he assigned and i got an 80% in his class.
Most unclear teacher I have ever had. Make sure you speak up and ask him questions to clarify everything. Tip for getting a better mark in journals; write down everything he says regarding the stories as he is a very hard marker on them. Gets off topic very easily which is not helpful. In class essay included difficult questions which was unfortunate because I actually enjoyed the book and did not have enough time to write a proper essay on it. Marks everything very late.
Abe frequently gets distracted, and spends the whole class giving his own opinions on the texts. If he thinks you're texting or chatting, he marks you absent on LEA without telling you. He's a nice guy, and you get to appreciate his quirks by the end of the semester. He brings bagels into class a few times during the semester. Kind of annoyed with him right now, as he submitted our final grades without updating the essay marks following rewrites.
Knows what he is talking about , really fun class. Is not very clear when it comes to assignments .I had him for mythology and he really made it an enjoyable class
Abe is a really special guy. His evaluations aren't too difficult, fairly simple IF you do everything you've been assigned to do. BUT he can be rather monotonous at times and often drift away from the subject entirely to give you a psychological and moral lesson that will probably scar you for a while or for life (most of which has little relation to the class). Be warned that there's a lot of reading and writing involved, it can become quite depressing. SO if you have him, stay very vigilant.
Had him for Jap. Lit. (103) AVOID. He gives so much reading it's unbelievable. Some of The stories are nice but hard to enjoy CAUSE THERE'S SO MANY OF THEM. He literally has no marking scheme and will NEVER GIVE OUT >90 unless u kiss his ***. His classes are so boring I didn't think it was humanly possible to speak in one breath for that long. if u get stuck with him, its ok he's not the worst but if u have a choice STEP AWAY. IM FINALLY DONE WITH ABE, I AM RUNNING AWAY FROM HIS CLASS SO FAST!!!
Good teacher, but gets distracted pretty easily. Evaluations are pretty easy and his hints are cryptic but helpful. Lots of reading for stories has to be done on the student's own time, not recommended to students with a lot on their plate. Test are usually out of the way of other tests.
I had him for mythology and his class is fairly easy. He gets distracted often and goes off topic so it's easy to get bored. His quizzes aren't hard as long as you do the readings and he basically gives you the answers to all of the questions with his hints. He's a pretty fair teacher and an easy marker.
At first he is very hard to listen to and can be very boring, but his first semester class is relatively easy to pass and lots of fun. Once you understand how he teaches his class will be very simple.
Do Not Take for Universe of the Arts! , he's funny and nice but you barely ever understand what he's saying.. our class average at the moment is around 60% .. unless you're willing to read and understand the books yourself and not in class you should be fine.
this guy is such a boss! had him for mythology and he gets so excited! talking about Greeks killing each other then getting trashed and having huge parties! would recommend to ANYONE for first semester english! he says the phrase "you and me baby aint nothing but mammals" a little too often but he's really helpful! nice guy! i judt did all the readings and showed up to every class cause i really wanted to be there!never got under an 80%
His tests and essays are EXTREMELY hard to do well on. You can never be quite certain what he wants you to do and if you directly ask him how do i do THIS he will explain something totally different. He is a really nice guy but seems a little bit lost in the world. I don't know anyone in his class who is doing well over average.
Knowledgeable guy and interesting readings but absolutely useless when it comes to explaining assignments. If you have a question for him, he will never answer it properly. He can be pretty funny but the majority of his lectures are boring and pointless. Not the worst English teacher out there but I DON'T recommend taking him
He is really a great and funny guy. Lectures can get kind of boring, but the readings are really interesting. There are a few essays, one oral and a few written exam tests. Mythology was really a great class and I got really good in it.
I didn't like him at all!! Very strict and there is no class participation. He seems to be in a somewhat good mood. He will be nice to you unless you annoy him for whatever reason. I would never ever
GREAT TEACHER!!! often branches off in his lectures, but if u listen u will see he is fascinating. Big essays but as long as u can back urself up u can get 100%.
He loads you with a bunch of work but he's just the best guy, funny and really gets into his subject!
His lectures can be boring and can end up with him talking for 2 hours. However, he's a very fair marker and can be really hilarious. Is really helpful outside of class and just wants you to do well
Although his lectures can get boring,he might have been the best English teacher I ever had. If you actually listen to what he's saying you'll see how beautiful his manor of speaking really is.Takehim
An easy teachers who marks everyone with the same mark, ramblings can be difficult to follow.
He is an easy, outgoing guy,but his classes are long and boring. He mostly just talks for the entire class. The workload is minimal and he marks fairly easy(not 90's like some of the other classes)
He is a really nice guy and a really easy marker. His lectures are genuinely though provoking (though he goes off on some wild tangents), oh yeah he brings bagels to class.
Absolutely amazing, easy marker, cool subject matter, an old man yet still able to relate to students, knowledgable in life, brings bagels to class( we pay and it goes to charity). I could go on...
He's awesome. He tries to relate the subject with the students. The only problem is that he can get a bit monotone and repetitive, but he's a generally easy marker. Love the bagels, too!
Awesome teacher. He really is a fair marker. Tends to ramble on. Doesn't tend to dwell on what needs to handed in and when... So keep your course outline handy! But interesting class. A must take!!!!
very inspiring, makes you want to do the work. very slack
his classes can get pretty boring and he does tend to ramble at points but he's a super easy marker and theres not too much work involved with his classes. Hes super serious about attendance though.
What can I tell you, he's a funny guy, he puts a lot of passion into his courses which makes them interesting. It's never dull and you'll find the class as more of a community.
Does tend to ramble on about things that are irrelevant, but of the english teachers I've had thus far he's probably my favourite. Pretty easy marker. As long as you can stay awake, you'll do just fine.
If he happens to stumble upon an interesting topic class goes by fast but mostly it goes by slowly. However the material is really good and he's an easy marker. He also brings bagles! Which is a total upside.
He rambles about whatever pops into his mind, about half the time it has something to do with the course. The readings are good, he marks fairly, but it seems like he cares more about hearing himself than the class. It can get pretty boring. On the bright side, he brings bagels and lets you watch movies.
alright teacher but he talks too much, mostly about things not relevant to class, once kept us for two hours and did not even say anything about the course, overall the reading material is pretty good, but he talks too much.
Talks a lot about off-topic stuff. He has a good sense of humor and makes some funny acts and jokes sometimes. His choice of short stories and movie are on topic and good, and dedicates classes to talk about the short stories
This is the perfect class for those who genuinely want to work. DON'T FALL ASLEEP (he will kick you out and mark you absent). He may seem weird and go off on tangents, but if you actually listen it does relate to the material
Abe's cool but his class got progressively boring and he doesn't answer any of your questions. He also gets mad at the dumbest things. On the other hand, he's a very easy marker, gives you bagels and you can watch movies.
I took Abe when I was at John Abbott. He was a good teacher, fairl and very helpful.
He's a fair marker and he really wants you to do well. He gives you second chances at essays you've done poorly on. Some of his classes are a little dull but he brings in bagels once in a while.
I agree exactly with the last poster. He can't answer ANYTHING, even as simple as saying a due date without going into philosophy of random things, and ultimately failing to say anything usefull.Avoid if ur a practical person
Talks all class about BARELY relevant things, does not allow students to voice their own interpretations of stories. He does not know how to explain due dates because he ends up trailing off topic. Fair marker though.
not a bad teacher.Grades you for your improvements an effort. very good teacher for english second language people.
He talks the entire class except when you watch movies that you have to read. He's a pretty fair marker though and doesn't give much work.
i had him for 2 semesters last year; great teacher, especially compared to the one i just finished with. He should be really appriciated. I wish I could take him for my final english course...
Nice guy, fair marker, intelligent man. The tangents he goes off are usually quite insightful. Expects you to be a competent student. Those who skip are failed. I found the material (Japanese lit) very interesting, especially the movies (2-3 per semester usually)
I found Abe to be a very interesting teacher, especially if you are interested in the analytical, symbolism, side of English rather than the whole grammar, learn how to write essays boring bureaucratic stuff. Can go off on a tangent for a while, but stuff does tie in in the end and he's a very fair marker.
awesome teacher! it may seem that he goes off topic, but if isnt until u truly absorb what he says that u realize it does relate to themes of a short story u had 2 read. he's the master of deep thinking about life; its interesting how he always tries to relate things about life to stories u just read. he may tend to get boring at times, but he's mostly interesting! he ALWAYS gives a second chance to rewrite an essay just to get a higher grade! he's funny, nice, but very random at times!
his a nice guy kind of boring repeates everything he says just do your work u'll pass overall easy marker
Abe dwells in an intellectual world fare beyond most, where thought is a holistic practice. Wait, review notes: you will discover logic of argumentation you didn't know was there.
Go to his class, get bored, do ur work and u'll pass for sure. He's kinda cool.
Easy! Marks, classes, everything is easy and usually interesting.willing to hel. he will talk for 110 min though. bagels in his class for people who forget breakfast!!! good class!
If you like to relax and listen to a teacher, Abe's your man! Chill in your seat but make sure you aren't sleeping because he'll mark youy as absent!
Holocaust: boring classes, assignments are unclear. Relatively easy to get a good mark. Make him think you care a lot and he'll like you. Funny and nice most of the time.
Easy class, BUT this guy is a hypocrite. He gives you 2 dates to hand in an essay, but gives you a speech if u dont hand in on the first date. His lectures are also useless.
The easiest class ever. His lectures are absolutely useless-takes him 90 min to answer a question.. goes off-topic. At first, he's funny- after a class or 2 he just gets dull
he's a really cool and funny teacher but tends to get boring sometimes. He knows wat he's doing...he made us watch family guy:)
angry man. a lot of work, jokes that are funny at first but than become annoying. hard marker. i liked the guy and did well but i would never take him again.
Abe is Very unclear and inpossible to get office hours with.Didnt Show up To 3oppointmints with me. He also expects u to know what the journals are on.
If you like long, boring lectures about his kids and divorce, rather than the subject matter, Abe's your man. Too much work for an English class too.
Abe is the man, he knows what to talk about to keep the students interested. He shows some very concious movies and addresses some very controvocial topics.
Smart teacher. Very interesting topics. Lessons drag on and make you want to sleep, but easy to pass. Funny lectures.
Lectures were a little dragged on and always lead off topic, but that gave ideas for essay topics.Awsome teacher!!! easy going too.
This teacher SUX! He is sooo boring, goes off topic, and all of his classes are 1h55 minutes, no break! He talks the whole ENTIRE TIME!!
I think this teacher is awesome, i've taken him twice and i would take him again! at times boring, but what english course isn't. course load not heavy.
so boring yet easy, no orals just essays, essays, essays. He always gets off topic, whatever you do, DON'T fall asleep in his class!!
great teacher, chill, rambles alot though. Assignments fairly easy, tough but fair marker; always gives second chance to re-write essays of any grade.
Abe is really popular and cool. His classes are pretty off-topic and he talks about screwed up things (like eating babies). But the readins and activites r fun.
he's a nice man and a good teacher - his marking is tough but fair
He is a very nice guy, Often goes of track but is very funny. He's Always there to help you.
He is a nice teacher, although soemtimes you may not understand his assignments.
if you are in science this is your class where u can get the sleeping time u need for the rest of the day and btw there are 836 tiles in the classroom
He's funny. It's a good class. But like someone else said, don't doze off.
Awesome guy. Has an interesting sense of humour. I enjoyed his lectures.
I thought he was awesome! still talk to him even after passing his class.
He was a good teacher, but the lectures were boring!!
Very Helpful, always there if you need help, funny as well. Just don't doze off.
This man is the worst teacher you could ever have, he really cannot teach
